I Found Every Car James Bond Drove, from BMW to Aston Martin

James Bond fan? Check out the ultimate collection of James Bond cars.

There is no possible human being who hasn’t watched at least one or two movies from this unbelievably popular franchise. And if you did, then you already know that all James Bond cars have developed a unique cultural identity of their own, along with gadgets he used, smoking hot girlfriends, and ultimately his weapons.

The Aston Martin DB5, for example, which was originally driven by the renowned superspy in Goldfinger in 1964, is thought to have started the trend. I mean, just look at it! The DB5 is currently one of the most well-known cars in movie history, surpassing its status as an iconic Bond vehicle. Let’s face it, this is one hell of a ride; perhaps the machine guns and additional ejector seats contributed to it.

Discover everything there is to know about the most famous Bond cars, from the modest Sunbeam Alpine in Dr. No to the stunning Aston Martin DB5 in Skyfall. By the end of the article, make sure to comment with your favorite car, movie, and, of course, which actor was your favorite.

1. Sunbeam Alpine Series II

Just look at this beauty! However, this is among the humblest James Bond cars. Everybody has to begin somewhere, and for James Bond, his starting point was the Sunbeam Alpine Series II. In the first film in the franchise, Dr. No, Sean Connery led the car on a perilous cliffside chase.

Made in Britain, rumors said that it was supposedly rented for the movie shoot from a local to save money on imports. I’d say it did a great job!

2. Bentley Mark IV

Do you remember the movie From Russia with Love from 1963? Sean Connery was again formidably playing the role of James Bond. The star of the movie was an amazing Bentley Mark IV (Drophead 3.5 Litre from 1935). This is one of the most unusual James Bond cars on the list because at the time the movie was made, the car model had been 30 years old since it was first released.

What makes the Bentley Mark IV one of the most special James Bond cars? Well, it’s interesting to point out that while the spy didn’t drive the car, he used the car phone, which was way ahead of time for 1963!

When Bentley’s Mark IV convertible made an appearance in the second Bond movie, it was already almost thirty years old, making it somewhat of an anomaly. Still, its placement here makes sense—the British spy did drive a Bentley in several of the original novels. I remember that I was puzzled when I first saw the movie since I didn’t know the car had a convertible roof! What a time to be alive, man.

3. Aston Martin DB5

We’re here finally: the one and only Aston Martin DB5! Everybody has loved this car since its first appearance in Goldfinger, the third James Bond movie from the franchise, Thunderball, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die.

The Aston Martin DB5, one of the most iconic and well-known vehicles in movie history, is the perfect example of a James Bond vehicle. Although Bond drove a DB Mark III in the book, the producers decided to employ the more recent DB5, which had only been produced three months before filming began. I don’t actually mind since this one was beyond words as well.

Another tiny fact regarding the Aston Martin DB5 is that BMT 216A was the license plate for the two DB5s that were created for the movie.

4. Toyota 2000 GT

This is probably one of my favorite James Bond cars. The plot of You Only Live Twice is set in Japan. Of course, they couldn’t pick any other car besides Toyota! And what a car this is! There were only 351 units made, which makes the automobile even more uncommon than a DB5.

The 2000 GT was originally a hardtop coupé, but Sean Connery was too tall to sit properly in the car because of the low roof. Toyota quickly made the necessary changes to create an exclusive open-top model for the movie.

5. Aston Martin DBS

All the fans of Sean Connery were a bit disappointed when, in the sixth James Bond movie, he was replaced by George Lazenby, who actually did a great job. Nobody was a better fit for the automobile than the Aston Martin DBS, which could adjust to the unique weather conditions of each nation.

The Aston was vital to both introducing the new main actor and the surprising conclusion of the movie. In an artful beginning, Bond is initially seen driving a gorgeous Aston Martin DBS along a winding road in Portugal, his face veiled in silhouette. Bond’s wife is murdered through the windshield of the DBS after the movie.

The car was so amazing that it made a short appearance in Diamonds Are Forever, the next James Bond film from 1971. Want to buy a car like James Bond had in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service? Sheesh, you’re going to spend around $300,000 at least!

6. Mercury Cougar XR-7

The Mercury Cougar XR-7 was probably one of the boldest James Bond cars. Mostly because it was driven by his wife, Tracy Di Vicenzo, a suitable car for a woman, I’d say! Tracy shows herself to be a capable driver by out-cornering those responsible for the murder and attempting to shoot them down while using rally studs for more grip on the slippery roads. I don’t say the stunts weren’t great, but man, with such a car, I’d be a good driver too!

Do you love James Bond cars as much as we do? Then you’re going to go mad after you see this book about this British jewel! Even the cover is brilliant. I fell in love with it from the very beginning, and I knew I must have it in my collection.

I have it in paperback format, which costs $14.68 on Amazon, but if you’re passionate about cars, I recommend you buy the hardcover format, which is a bit pricier, $31.18, but worth it! If you’re a collector of course.

7. Ford Mustang Mach 1

Connery is here to stay for one movie and ride an amazing Ford Mustang Mach 1. However, the movie wasn’t exactly appreciated by the audience. I did enjoy it quite a lot, probably because of the action scenes it had.

Bond gets caught on the Sheriff’s radar while driving Tiffany Case’s Ford Mustang, which leads to an intense pursuit down the main street of Las Vegas. Police cars crashing into each other and good maneuvers around the parking lot are just some of the things James Bond had to do before escaping.

But let’s not forget about the scene when he had to put the car on two wheels to escape through a narrow street. I don’t think any other car would have been a better choice than the Ford Mustang.

Sadly, because of the stunts, not all of them went as smoothly as expected, and a lot of Fords were destroyed during filming. But it wasn’t necessarily a problem since the supplier offered as many cars as the movie producers wanted.

8. Chevrolet Impala Convertible

Sheesh! This is probably one of my favorite James Bond cars from the whole series. I mean, who doesn’t love a Chevrolet Impala? In the film Live and Let Die, the car appears when Bond gets to Dr. Kananga’s island and Rosie Carver finds the location of Bains’s murder.

9. AMC Hornet X Hatchback

We continue the list of James Bond cars with the one and only AMC Hornet X Hatchback. By simply looking at this car, I can imagine some weird stunts with it. Because it’s James Bond, producers couldn’t step aside from this.

Perhaps the most memorable aspect of The Man with the Golden Gun for most spectators is a clever maneuver in which Bond’s automobile flips 360 degrees over a river. The AMC Hornet X Hatchback is still legendary just for that reason. And, oh! I forgot, the sassiest James Bond in the spotlight: Roger Moore of course!

10. Lotus Esprit S1

Lotus Esprit S1 appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977. There are always going to be a few fresh surprises for fans when a new actor embarks on the role of James Bond. One of the surprises for Roger Moore’s Agent 007 debut was a white Lotus Espirit S1. During a thrilling pursuit scene, it demonstrated its Transformer-like capabilities by transitioning from a vehicle to a mini-submarine and back.

11. Lotus Esprit Turbo

The series, which has always been loyal to its audience, revived James Bond’s Lotus in the following Roger Moore film, For Your Eyes Only. The automobile self-destructs and eliminates a henchman instead of engaging in another pursuit and repeating the cycle. Neat!

12. Renault 11 Taxi

The cab motif persisted in 1985’s A View to a Kill, the subsequent Bond movie, and the final one starring Roger Moore. Taking over a Renault cab and pulling off several big feats, 007 is chasing the henchwoman May Day. Another vehicle brutally chops the Renault 11 in two during an exhilarating high-speed pursuit. Shocking!

13. Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II

Two times, producer Albert R. Broccoli, well known as Cubby Broccoli, donated his own Rolls Royce to the series. In A View to a Kill, it has a more significant part, diving into a lake while MI6 agent Sir Godfrey Tibbett is still inside. Before you ask, the underwater sequence was performed with a stunt car.

I know I just recommended a book about Aston cars, but this one is something that every single fan of the 007 Bond series has to have! James Bond Cars: The Definitive History has 336 pages that include all the beautiful cars that appeared in the movies. Unpublished photography and exclusive interviews are all available with one click. Plus, it’s only $33.30 on Amazon.

14. BMW Z3

Among the best James Bond cars this BMW Z3 stands out pretty neat! While it would seem obvious to choose anything from BMW for a James Bond vehicle, the company didn’t get involved in the movie series until Goldeneye came out in 1995. The vehicle was a Z3, and it was outfitted with stinger missiles, an all-points radar, and an ejection seat, among other advanced features.

15. BMW 750iL

Whoever liked Pierce Brosnan as James Bond probably loved the cars that appeared in the movies too. Moving forward to another BMW, which was used for the movie Tomorrow Never Dies. BMW was the favorite automobile manufacturer of James Bond for the early part of the Pierce Brosnan era. His 750iL goes all out in Tomorrow Never Dies, with electric door handles, roof-mounted rockets, tire spikes, bulletproof glass, and more. In keeping with the times, the Bond vehicle may also be driven by a smartphone.

16. BMW Z8

If the BMW Z3 was one of the best James Bond cars, then the one that appeared in the movie The World is Not Enough was probably even better. Sadly, the collaboration between BMW and the James Bond film series came to an end with this film in 1999. Among other things, the powerful Z8 has integrated missile controls and titanium armor plating.

17. Ford Fairlane

In the 2002 film Die Another Day, an old Ford Fairlane briefly appears, satisfying—or maybe undermining—Bond’s desire for a “fast car.” I mean, the faster, the better, because otherwise, how is he going to find the murderer?

18. Jaguar XKR

Die Another Day’s Jaguar XKR is outfitted with an array of cutting-edge technology, such as machine guns, smoke screens, and laser-guided missiles. It makes sense that this vehicle assisted James Bond in getting out of some rather difficult circumstances. Additionally, the XKR features an ejector seat, which is useful for making an emergency escape.

Now, if I think better, this Jaguar is among the best James Bond cars!

19. Aston Martin DBS V12

Whoop, whoop! Again, a mind-blowing Aston Martin for the movie Casino Royale from 2006. This stunning vehicle has a GPS tracker and machine guns, among other powerful accessories. For every fan of James Bond who wishes to live out the scene, this is the ideal vehicle. Bond was obviously the inspiration for the creation of the DBS V12, which is among the most highly advanced automobiles ever produced.

Sleek, fast, and strong, this is definitely an excellent choice for a spy on the go.

20. Aston Martin DB10

Designed especially for the James Bond movie Spectre, the Aston Martin DB10 is a two-door coupé. This gadget-filled vehicle honors Bond’s fifty-year collaboration, which began with the DB5 in the 1964 movie Goldfinger. With just 10 produced in total, the DB10 is one of the rarest Bond vehicles—hence the car’s name.
The new stylistic trend that would be seen in the next Aston Martin vehicles was hinted at by this Aston.

21. Aston Martin DB5

Oh dear! I hope you watched the latest James Bond movie, “No Time to Die,” that came out in 2021 because it’s definitely brilliant! I am actually sorry we won’t be able to see Daniel Craig perform as Bond anymore.

The last one of the James Bond cars that appeared in the movies was a superb Aston Martin. The charming spy drives a variety of gorgeous vintage vehicles, including two Aston Martins. It is no surprise that action, gadgets, and vintage automobiles are James’s three favorite things. And, to be honest, I agree with him! I mean, who wouldn’t love to ride fancy cars, have beautiful women around them, and travel a lot? Of course, there was a certain risk too, but doesn’t matter as long as you’re behind the wheel of an Aston Martin!

However, there is one more little detail you must know about this tremendous car: it’s perhaps the most distinctive and unique vehicle in a movie since the new Batmobile is the BMW-powered DB5 stunt car.

Would you want to take the wheel of a James Bond vehicle? Can you make a top of some of the best James Bond cars and tell us which one is your favorite?
