These electric cars may not be the best choice for you!
Electric cars are the way to the future! This is what everyone says, and we tend to agree with them. They are just as reliable as any normal car, they are less noisy and pollutant, and if you can easily buy an electric car, as the price difference is not really there for some models, why not do the earth a favor? What could go wrong?
These types of electric vehicles are still in their infancy, as they have not been around for as long as traditional cars. However, due to this new type of motor and combustion engine, some models are not as reliable as other models. This means that some models, while aesthetically pleasing and their specifications sound great, do not actually deliver on those features, range, or justify the price that comes along with them.
Before buying an electric car, or any car for that matter, you should do your research thoroughly and consider a number of factors, including model, year of production, and maybe even brand. This can also help you eliminate certain car models, but it is hard to read all about all the brands out there, and this is where we come in!
From electric cars that are good but definitely overpriced to electric cars that are not everything they promise to be, here are some of the vehicles you should avoid when you are looking for a new car!
Do you have an electric car? What has your experience been with your particular one? Would you recommend it to other people? Let us know in the comments below!
Tesla Model X
When it comes to reliability issues in electric cars, the Tesla Model X is one such vehicle that has shown issues ever since it was released in 2017. Over the years, there have been improvements made to the car, but sometimes it seems like not much has changed, which has let a lot of the owners of this car feel let down by the car.
One of the most frustrating aspects of this car has been the fact that the model has its signature “falcon wing” doors, which have been seen malfunctioning ever since the car became available for purchase. What’s more, a lot of users reported that the windshield is very prone to cracking, as it is more fragile than expected.
While a lot of owners of this vehicle have their grievances with it, it seems like the most disappointing and pressing issue was the fact that it was difficult to charge and that the battery was fast-draining, not lasting enough for most of them. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Tesla Model X, especially when they have other, more reliable models in their portfolio!
Ford Mustang Mach-E
When it comes to this classic type of car, Mustangs have had an electric version on the market for a while now. And while this is not going to pertain to all the Mach-E versions, there are a few that you should steer clear of. The models that you should avoid are the ones made in 2021 and 2022, which have been given some very low-reliability scores by certain people who have this car and even review publications.
This may be a bit confusing when it comes to getting a reliable electric car, but with conflicting reviews between users and publications, how can you tell if the Ford Mustang Mach-E is a good SUV car to invest in? The answer is simple: while it was rated highly by some, other people have had problems with the model, and while some were willing to duck points for that, others were not.
What is this problem that has polarized so many people? On this batch of Ford Mustang Mach-Es from 2021 and 2022, the car will stop working due to the battery overheating! While this is a good feature to make sure that you do not end up blowing up with the car due to battery issues, it makes for a pretty substantial drawback in your car: shutting down in the middle of the highway!
That’s a no from us!
Porsche Taycan
You have probably heard about this car before due to it being named the “most complete electric vehicle on the planet” by Top Gear in 2022. However, consumers and other review platforms have found that the Porsche Taycan ends up falling short on a lot of planes when you look at the benchmarks other luxury electric cars have set, especially when we look at the Tesla models.
Sure, the Taycan is one gorgeous car, but if you want to have a true premium experience with this car, then you will have to shell out more money on the expensive trims. And while this should not be a problem since Porches are not really an affordable car when it comes to such expensive cars, you expect the best out of them, and it looks like the Taycan has been disappointing people.
One of the biggest losses recorded by users who were not happy with the car included problems with losing power (we sure hope it did not happen while driving) and seat harness issues that call for the complete recall of this electric car!
It may just be us, but after getting an expensive vehicle, we expect to not have to bring the car back and be on the lookout for recalls!
If you are just as much of a car enthusiast as we are, then you should definitely give a watch to the show Top Gear. While there are at least 33 seasons for the US version, the UK version of the show is likewise extremely entertaining, and you can find out all about the latest car models. Nissan Leaf
The Nissan Leaf is not one of the worst cars out there, but there are quite a lot of drawbacks that come along with it, despite having one of the best prices on the market when it comes to electric vehicles. If you want to get a lead, you can expect to pay a little over $28,000 for the 2023 model (all without the federal EV tax credit).
However, there have been a lot of complaints when it comes to the performance of this electric car, with quite frequent complaints about the battery compatibility and even the limited range of this car.
This is one of those electric cars on the list that could make for a good car for yourself if you want to get an electric vehicle for a good price, but you need to invest some time to do your research well. That way, you can see for yourself if these range and battery issues would indeed be a dealbreaker or if they are outweighed by the good price!
When you are buying a vehicle, there are a lot of things to take into consideration, but there are certain safety features that a lot of people overlook! Make sure you read all about the best safety features you need to have on your car here!
