Experts predict that, in 2024, worldwide new car sales will reach 88.3 million, a 2.8% increase from 2023.
As compared to last year, this year, an increasing number of people are choosing electric vehicles over traditional diesel, petrol, and CNG vehicles. It was a mixed response on a model-by-model basis, so now we’ll discuss the top 10 fastest-selling cars at the moment.

10. Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V sold about 361,457 cars in 2023, which is twice the sales of 2022 (an increase of 54%). This was a great surprise, considering that 2022 didn’t turn out to be a good year for CR-V, or for any other car maker in the world, as a matter of fact.

In its fourth generation, the Kunga is based on the Ford C2 platform and is available with several power options, including a 1.5-liter Ecoboost petrol engine that delivers 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque, a 2.0-liter Ecoblue diesel engine, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Created and built by the California-based company owned by Elon Musk, the Tesla Model Y was among the fastest-selling cars of 2023 across the US, selling more than 1.23 million units.
In fact, the Model Y itself accounted for 65% of Tesla’s total global sales in 2023, according to official data released by the car manufacturer. The EV maker has surprised auto industry experts by exceeding expectations for the fourth quarter in terms of sales as well as production.

North America is where most RAV4s have been sold, with 407,739 units sold in 2021, followed by Europe with 199,675 units, and Australia, with 35,751.
The Toyota RAV4 is famous for its refined handling, roomy, comfortable interior, and good reliability rating. With the most recent upgrades, the car now features a 203-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Last year, 1.9 million Tucsons were sold, a 21% increase from the previous year.
This compact crossover SUV comes with three engine options: a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 187 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque; a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 177 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque; and a hybrid powertrain that produces 227 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.
As one of the fastest-selling cars at the moment, the Tucson comes with several safety features, including a blind spot monitoring system, a lane departure warning system, and a forward collision warning system.
4. Kia Sportage
Coming next, the Kia Sportage is currently one of the fastest-selling cars, aiming to sell 3.2 million vehicles in 2024. The carmaker managed to sell 3.1 million cars in 2023, an increase of 6.3% compared to 2022.
Sportage also won the “Full Hybrid” and “Family SUV” awards at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards in 2022. Last year, it was chosen as the car of the year in Morocco.
